A family in Attala County lost their home in a fire tonight.
Firefighters, Attala Deputies, and EMS were dispatched to the blaze on Hwy 43 North near Pierces Chapel Cemetery just before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. The caller let dispatch know that everyone made it out of the home safely. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation but appears to have started in the outdoor cooking area under the carport of the residence.
“We made several attempts to make an interior attack, but the fire was deeply seated upon our arrival, and we were limited to three sides of the home due to overhead arcing powerlines.” – Attala County Fire Chief, Tim Cox
The home was a total loss.
