Several local players to feature in College Football Playoff Fiesta Bowl Showdown

Fans in Attala County and surrounding areas will have plenty of hometown pride on display as the College Football Playoff Fiesta Bowl Semifinal kicks off Thursday, Jan. 8, featuring the Miami Hurricanes and the Ole Miss Rebels.

Several local players are representing their hometowns as members of the teams in this high-stakes College Football Playoff semifinal.

Miami lineman Markel Bell, who got his start at Holmes Community College, will anchor the left tackle position for the Hurricanes.

The Ole Miss Rebels showcase several local standouts on the roster: Caleb Cunningham from Weir (Choctaw County), Percy Lewis from McAdams, Ricky Fletcher of Durant (Holmes County Central) and Cortez Thomas from Lexington (Holmes County Central).

The Fiesta Bowl kicks off Thursday, Jan. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with coverage on ESPN.
