TS Arthur Forms, Heavy Rain Expected in MS

SHARE NOW

Tropical Storm Arthur formed off the Texas coast this morning and is now moving inland and could possibly dissipate over southeastern Texas tonight.   However, the threat of heavy rain and severe storms will continue for Mississippi as the remnants of the storm push toward us.

A flood watch continues for portions of the local area including Leake and Neshoba counties.  Three to five inches of additional rainfall is possible from late tonight through Thursday across Leake, Neshoba, Winston and southeastern Attala counties with one to three inches in other parts of the local area.

There’s also a marginal risk of isolated severe storms across most of Mississippi Thursday and again on Friday.   Brief, weak tornadoes will be possible on Thursday.
