A young man was killed in a crash on Hwy 43 near Beamon Rd. in Leake County during the early morning hours of Monday, July 6, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Leake County Communications received a crash alert from the driver’s iPhone at 2 a.m., and Leake County deputies, EMS, Thomastown Volunteer Firefighters, and MHP were immediately dispatched.
A responder who was first to the scene stated there was a rollover crash with one person involved who was trapped.
Sgt. Moore with the Mississippi Highway Patrol tells Breezy News it appears the vehicle, a 2010 Honda Fit, was traveling north on Hwy 43 when it left the roadway and collided with a tree.
The driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene, has been identified as 20-year-old Anthony Tirado of Texas.
