Much of the local area may avoid the worst of the hot and humid weather as we head toward the weekend. Afternoon highs will be in the 90s through Saturday but the heat index should stay below 105 across Attala, Leake, Neshoba and Winston counties. The National Weather Service says a front will bring increased rain chances starting tomorrow. And by Sunday, our high temperatures may not make it out of the upper 80s.
