Two local educators at the Kosciusko-Attala Career Tech Center (CTC) have earned high honors at the 2026 Mississippi Association for Career and Technical Education (MS ACTE) Summer Conference, bringing state and regional recognition to the area.
Tessa Horn, who leads the Educator Preparation program, was named the 2026 Mississippi Teacher Educator of the Year. The distinguished award recognizes outstanding faculty who show exceptional leadership, innovative instruction, and a deep commitment to training the next generation of teachers.
Throughout her tenure, Horn has focused heavily on hands-on learning, connecting her students with real-world classroom field experiences and mentorship opportunities to help launch their teaching careers.
Joining her in the spotlight is Health Science Instructor Amy Price, who received the 2026 Mississippi Community Service Award from MS ACTE, as well as the Region IV Carl Perkins Community Service Award.
Price’s awards highlight her work integrating community outreach and service-learning directly into her health science curriculum, instilling civic responsibility alongside technical healthcare skills.
Her regional win also positions her on the national stage: Price is now one of just five finalists competing for the 2027 national title. The national winner will be announced this December at the ACTE Awards Gala, which celebrates the top career and technical education professionals in the country.
Administrators praised both instructors, noting that their achievements reflect the high standards of the Kosciusko-Attala CTC and its mission to prepare students for both successful careers and meaningful community involvement.
