The heat isn’t loosening its grip on central Mississippi just yet. We’ll see afternoon highs in the mid 90s today instead of yesterday’s upper 90s. But the heat index will still range from 108 in Durant and Carthage to 107 in Philadelphia and 106 in Kosciusko. The western parts of the local area will be back under an extreme heat warning with a heat advisory for the rest of us.
