SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK FOR TODAY shown above
After severe weather blew down trees and knocked out power in the local area on Wednesday, more storms are possible today. There’s now a Level-2 “slight” risk of damaging winds and hail for north Mississippi and a Level-1 “marginal” risk for most of the rest of the state.
Dangerous heat stress will continue today as well. A heat advisory has been posted for most of the state with temperatures in the upper 90s to 100 and heat index readings ranging from 108 to 110. The heat advisory has been extended into Friday and an extreme heat warning will be in effect Friday for western Mississippi.
