Holmes Community College students and nearby residents will soon have expanded local healthcare services available directly on campus.
G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center and Holmes Community College have partnered to open the new G.A. Carmichael Community Student Health Center in Goodman. A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Goodman campus, with the community invited to attend.
The facility aims to make medical care more convenient for both enrolled students and the surrounding area. Dr. Calvin Ramsey, an internal medicine physician with G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, will provide patient care at the new location, offering direct access to an experienced provider on campus.
“Our goal is to bring healthcare closer to the people we serve,” said Dr. James L. Coleman Jr., Chief Executive Officer of G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center. “This partnership with Holmes CC allows us to meet students where they are while strengthening access to care in the surrounding community.”
Dr. Coleman emphasized the broader impact of the partnership on regional health access.
“We are grateful to the leadership of Holmes Community College for sharing our vision and helping make this partnership possible,” Dr. Coleman added. “This is about more than opening a new location. It is about creating another point of access, strengthening our communities, and meeting people where they are.”
The public and community members are invited to join representatives from both institutions for the ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday afternoon.
