The Kosciusko Whippets football team played host to the Hernando Tigers in Friday night’s football action.
The Tigers open the scoring with a touchdown, 7-0. With an answering score, the first quarter ended tied at seven. Hernando opens the second quarter with another touchdown, 14-7. Adding another score, Hernando led at the half, 21-7.
The Whippets came out of the locker room after the half and scored on the first play of the second half. They quickly tied up the game. But Hernando would not be denied, 30-21, third quarter. The Whippets added a touchdown, 30-27. Hernando scored, 37-27. With three minutes left to go, Kosciusko closed the gap to 37-34. Hernando quickly scored again, making the score 44-34. The home team added a touchdown with two and half minutes left, 44-41. In the last moment of regulation, the Whippets tied the game with a thirty-six yard field goal!
The Whippets struck first in overtime. The Tigers answered. 52-52. Second overtime! Hernando scored in second overtime, 58-52. The Whippets pulled it out with the final being 60-58!
Caiden Wade and Braden Ray were named the Autumn Ridge Players of the Game. Now, that’s something to smile about!
