Local pastors, community members, and first responders gathered around the flagpole at Ethel High School Wednesday morning for a time of prayer over area students, teachers, and school staff.
The initiative was organized after Dr. Danya Turner, Superintendent of the Kosciusko School District, met with local pastors to launch a weekly prayer effort for local campuses, inspired by similar successful programs in Starkville and Winston County.
The group made its first stop at Kosciusko High School last week and plans to rotate to different campuses each Wednesday morning, with upcoming visits slated for Greenlee Elementary and Kosciusko Junior High.
“Our weekly prayers include our community leaders, first responders, as well as every household that is represented through the school,” said Pastor Gary Glazier, who serves as the group’s coordinator. “It is my prayer that we are seen in a way that encourages others to stand tall and be reminded they are not alone.”
