The heat advisory issued for eastern Mississippi has been extended to cover the entire local area from noon till 8 pm today. The heat index could climb as high as 105. Temperatures are forecast to peak in the upper 90s. The hot weather will continue into early next week but a change is on the way by Thursday, when highs in this part of central Mississippi will top out in the upper 80s and overnight lows are expected to drop into the low to mid 60s.
