The Holmes Community College Bulldogs played the nationally ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs from Gulfport tonight in Goodman in a non division matchup. Gulf Coast maintained a lead over the Holmes Bulldogs throughout the first half but were only down by 5 points to the 3rd ranked Gulf Coast dogs 21-16 at halftime. In the second half, both teams were held scoreless in the 3rd quarter, but the Holmes bulldogs scored early in the 4th quarter and got a 2 point conversion to gain a 3 point lead over Gulf Coast, 24-21. Gulf Coast scored a touchdown on 4th down in their next possession to regain the lead, 28-24. No additional points were scored for the remainder of the quarter giving Gulf Coast a 4 point victory over Holmes. Skylar Townsend was named the Sullivan’s Drugs and Gifts player of the game. Next Thursday the Bulldogs will travel to Fulton to play Itawamba Community College. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm with the Boswell Media Sports pregame show on the air at 6:30pm on Breezy 103.7.
