RED FLAG WARNING shown in pink on map above
The Fire Weather Watch for much of Mississippi including the local area for Friday has been upgraded to a Red Flag Warning indicating a significant risk of wildfires. The National Weather Service says a strong cold front will produce north winds up to 25 miles an hour with gusts as high as 35 mph which will combine with low humidity and critically dry vegetation to create conditions favorable for wildfires. The warning will be in effect from 9 am until 8 pm Friday.
A Fire Weather Watch has been posted for Saturday.
