Whippets Win Advance to North State Playoffs

The Kosciusko Whippets returned to Whippet Field today to play game two of the current 3rd round of MHSAA Region 4 Baseball playoffs hosting the Amory Panthers. The Whippets won the first game against the Panthers in Amory last night in extra innings by a final score of 6-5. A win for the Whippets tonight will advance them to the North State playoffs but if the Panthers win a third and deciding game will be played tomorrow night at 6:00pm in Amory. The Whippets are 17-13 overall this season while the Panthers are 15-11-1 overall this season. After a scoreless first inning, the Panthers scored 2 runs on 3 hits in the top of the 2nd inning to take an early two run lead in the game. Another run scored for the Panthers in the top of the 4th inning to extend their lead to three runs, 3-0. The Whippets had a great bottom of the 5th inning, scoring three runs to tie up the game at 3-3; however with two out in the top of the 6th inning the Panthers scored three runs before the Whippets got out number 3 sending the Panthers back out front by three runs, 6-3. Trailing by three runs with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning, the Whippets rallied scoring four runs and winning the game 7-6 and also winning the series over Amory in two games. The Whippets now advance to the North State Playoffs next week. Evan Scott was named tonight’s Autumn Ridge Dental Player of the Game. Congratulations Evan!
