SALLIS, Miss.–Multiple vehicles that were blocking the highway and the parking lot near the Dollar General in Sallis, were towed Saturday night.
Attala County deputies responded to several calls from Hwy. 431, beginning about 7:30 p.m. when people who were parked at an event were parked on the highway and, according to the manager at the store who called in, were blocking access to the parking lot.
That store manager gave people a chance to move before requesting they be towed from the property.
Deputies also called for tow trucks for vehicles that were parked on the highway, beyond the white lines.
Deputies began calling in tags for the offending vehicles and wreckers from several services began sending trucks.
It wasn’t clear exactly how many cars were towed, but it was a process that took at least two hours, according to police radio communication.

September 29, 2024 at 11:24 AMWhy was an event held some place where excessive parking was not previously approved by property owners. Too dangerous alongside the highway. So why not send an officer in and warn them that their vehicles would be towed if not moved from area. Just saying.

October 3, 2024 at 12:02 PMShe did not cost the people the money. They decided to park dangerously and inconsiderately so they were towed and cost themselves the money. Also these “events” are almost every weekend and play loud music until at least 1 A.M some nights. I know this because I live in Sallis and can hear the ba** of the music from inside my house. It is hard for my family to go to sleep at night. I am all for having a good time…… but be considerate of others and how your actions affect them. Maybe turn the music down a little bit when it gets past 11:00 A.M and pre-plan parking if you expect a large turnout. Sallis is a quiet little town and its citizens love it that way.
