ETHEL, Miss.–Attala County deputies were asked to help calm down a loud part going on Friday night on Main St. in Ethel.
The call came in around 10:30, with a neighbor saying the music was too loud, the people were shooting firecrackers and when he complained they cussed him out.
The neighbor called back saying the party had spilled over onto his property.
Racing Up and Down the Road
At the same time people were reported racing at the bridges in Ethel. The deputy who responded said they had cleared out before he got there.

July 6, 2025 at 5:54 PMThe “loud party” was an annual 4th of July family get together. The only “cussing anyone out” was Toby Keith’s Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue which was playing right before the Officer pulled up, along with a variety of other music throughout the whole day, which it may have been too loud for the older people in the area but still not directed at anyone specifically since it was playing through a speaker. The Town of Ethel also posted on their Facebook page that fireworks COULD be set off until midnight according to Town Ordinance. Also, before anyone asks or assumes, this wasn’t at my house but within walking distance, and I was there with my family until after 11. Some people will say anything so they have something to complain about!

July 7, 2025 at 2:25 PMThe timing was all wrong I don’t care about ordnance it’s called respect. 10:00 at night that party should have been over with and to top it off on someone else property. Sorry not in my neighborhood.

July 7, 2025 at 4:25 PMNo one was on their property. 10pm on a Friday which was a holiday isn’t late. Most places don’t start firework displays until at least 9pm and they last anywhere from an hour to 2 hours. The only thing that makes this situation any different is people complained because it wasn’t a business hosting the event, but instead a family gathering that people are bitter about because they don’t have family that bonds like that.
