KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–Paramedics, deputies, volunteer firefighters and rescuers went in blinded by the dark and hampered by extremely rough terrain to bring a man out of the woods who had been hurt in a tractor accident Saturday night.
The accident was reported about 7:45 at the end of Attala Rd. 1153, which is south of Hwy. 19, south of Kosciusko.

According to police radio traffic the man involved in the wreck was hurt, but it wasn’t clear how badly. The Attala County fire chief later told Breezynews the man had serious head injuries.
Firefighters, paramedics and deputies had a tough time finding the man in the dark. At one point it was reported that the person was trapped under a tree. However, that turned out not to be the case. But, as more rescuers arrived they all had a tough time finding the wreck.
Paramedics were brought in using GPS coordinates.
It was unclear from radio traffic how the wreck happened. But, the man was brought out on a special board to stabilize people who may have had serious spinal injuries. According to radio traffic he was brought out of the woods on a four-wheeler.
He was airlifted from the scene.

April 7, 2024 at 6:25 PMAttala County first responders did an excellent job. Only it was not a tractor rollover. It appears he was attempting to move a tree out of the way and it boomeranged and hit him in the face.
