KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–Both the City of Kosciusko and Attala County were awarded the Home Grant this year, which is a “blessing” according to Kosciusko Mayor Tim Kyle. But, he says not everyone who applies will be granted a portion of the benefits.
“That will be spent on helping some people rehab some houses and possibly build some houses,” he said.
The city’s portion is nearly $600,000.
“It’s a blessing that we’re gonna be able to help some people. But, not everybody that applies is gonna be granted it,” he said in an interview with Breezy101.
“The qualifications for this are not set by the City of Kosciusko,” he said. “These are HUD funds. They go through Home Corp. in Jackson. So, Home Corp. actually can change some of the rules and they can add additional rules.”
He said some people have applied and some have complained, knowing that the grant money won’t be going to everyone. Kyle said the city is making the effort to help as many people as possible.
You can pick up application papers at City Hall.
“We’re just thankful that we’re gonna be able to help some people.”
