Woods Fire Reported at Attala County Cemetery

KOSCIUSKO, Miss.–A woods fire was reported Saturday evening at a cemetery on Attala Rd. 1002.

The call to Sallis and Central firefighters went out at 6:16 p.m. that a fire at the cemetery had reached the woods. The dispatcher said the caller reported no structures were in danger.

The fire was determined to be inside a private cemetery.

When firefighters arrived they had to go into the cemetery to fight the fire.

The Forestry Commission was notified of the fire.

About two hours later all firefighters left the scene, leaving the Forestry Commission on the scene. Just before 10 p.m. firefighters were called back out because of several hit spots that had fired back up.
