On Wednesday, October 21, 2020 Attala County School District was notified that one student at Ethel High School has tested positive for COVID-19. Following the MSDH guidelines the student is in quarantine and all identified close contacts are being notified to quarantine as well. As required, ACSD reports updates to the MS Department of Health each Monday.
The Kosciusko Attala Partnership has announced the winner of this year's Hometown Scarecrow contest. Redbud Financial Group was named the first place winner. One more person in Attala County has died from coronavirus. That information was released in the Tuesday report from the Mississippi State Department of Health. The death toll in Attala County from the virus is 26. Overall, there were 31 more deaths reported in the state with 730 new cases of the virus.
Last week, the kindergarten students at Greenlee Elementary were given the opportunity to participate in a mock vote on a new design for the flag of the State of Mississippi. The annual Trick or Treat Safety Parade in downtown Kosciusko has been set for Thursday, Oct. 29. Participating businesses on the square will pass out candy from 3:00 - 4:30.
