Much of the local area could see some isolated severe storms later today. The National Weather Service has put Neshoba County, most of Leake County and eastern Attala County under a Level-1 “marginal” risk of damaging wind gusts and hail late this afternoon and this evening.
And even in areas that don’t get storms, the wind could still be a problem—all day. With low pressure to the northwest of us and high pressure to the southeast, it’ll be gusty out there with sustained winds of 25-30 miles an hour, gusting up to 40-45 mph.
The National Weather Service says that’s strong enough to knock down a few trees, especially those dead pines that are ready to fall anyway.
