One man is behind bars after attempting to flee from deputies just after noon on Monday.

Sheriff Tim Nail tells Breezy News that Attala county deputies responded to an assault in progress on Attala Road 3217 at around 1 pm.

Once deputies arrived on scene they learned that suspect fled on foot into a wooded area. Deputies notified Sheriff Nail and K9 Victor was brought to the scene to track the suspect. The K9 located subject and he was taken into custody without incident

The suspect, James aka Jamie McKee was charged with simple assault-domestic. McKee also had two arrest warrants, one MDOC probation warrant and an arrest warrant for contempt of court from the Kosciusko Police Department.

Responding Officers included Investigator Jimmy Nunn, Chief Deputy Zelie Shaw and K9 Sergeant Scott Walters and K9 Victor.
