The Attala County Fire Department (ACFD) responded to a series of fires late Monday night, keeping crews busy into the early hours of Tuesday.
The first call came at approximately 11:24 p.m. for a house fire on Highway 43 South near Attala Road 1026. Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames.
While battling the house fire, firefighters were called to another blaze just down the road, where a shed was also fully engulfed. ACFD firefighters, with assistance from Sallis Volunteer Fire Department, worked to extinguish the shed fire.
ACFD Chief Tim Cox stated that a downed electrical line crossing the driveway is believed to have caused both fires. No injuries were reported in either incident.
As crews managed the two structure fires, ACFD and Ethel Volunteer Fire Department were alerted to a separate incident on Attala Road 5006 just off Hannah Road in Ethel involving the smell of smoke and a melted electrical outlet. Firefighters identified and addressed the faulty outlet and reported no fire.
