Beware of local holiday scams

SHARE NOW

As Christmas Day approaches, scams are on the rise once again.

Scams always increase during the holiday season.

One local scam that has been reported is a phishing scam in the form of a survey from a power company.

The scam comes in the form of an email asking questions about where you live and about your power service.

Chad Kyle from Kosciusko Water and Light said KWL does not send out surveys like this.

You can report possible scams to the Kosciusko Police Department, Attala County Sheriff’s, or the state Attorney General’s office.

Other scams that appear during the holiday season are fake websites and fake charities.
