JACKSON, Miss.–Boswell Media picked up the top prizes for radio and radio news in the state Saturday night at the Miss. Assoc. of Broadcasters annual awards banquet. The awards are for stations who are doing their best work to serve the people who listen and read websites like Breezynews.com and Kicks96News.com.
Kicks96 was once again awarded Radio Station of the Year, with morning show host Brian “BMO” Montgomery winning Radio Personality of the Year and the station winning Best Radio Morning Show (First Place) for BMO in the Morning, along with Breck Riley and Ashlee Davis.
Montgomery has now been named Radio Personality of the Year four years in a row.
Boswell Media was also awarded the Public Education Partnership Award from the association.
In the news categories, Randy Bell and Johnny Boswell were awarded first place in Multimedia for the Kosciusko Downtown Mobile Tour story.
Bell also won first and second place for Best Use of Sound. The first place award was for a story on a Leake County bust, which used body cam and recorded police video to tell the story.
Bell also had wins in Breaking News, Breaking Weather, Cotinuing Coverage (for coverage of the state legislature) and best feature for the story “MDOT the Dog”.
Chris Davis received first place awards for Best Newscast, Best Feature (for a story on Marty Gamblin) and Radio News Anchor of the Year.
Montgomery and Mark Davis also took home a prize for Best Commercial Announcement for Rosebud General Store.
