Bulldogs advance to tournament semifinals

The Holmes Community College Bulldogs picked up an 81-69 win here Monday over the East Mississippi Community College Lions to advance to the semifinals of the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.

Holmes, now 23-8, will play Jones, now 25-6, who knocked off Baton Rouge in their quarterfinal game, 80-75, Thursday March 14. That game will be played at Tougaloo College beginning at 3:00 pm.

Holmes led 41-37 at halftime and outscored the Lions, 40-31, in the second half.

Jamar Jenkins led the Bulldogs with 19 points including four three-pointers while Cameron Wallace had 18, Hobert Grayson had 17, Dacory Porter had 14 and Jalen Tatum had 11. Wallace led with 12 rebounds.

The Bulldogs shot 53.2 percent from the field (33-of-62) and 40 percent from the three-point line (8-of-20).
