The Attala County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) stopped an attempted burglary Tuesday afternoon in the Friendship community. Deputies received an anonymous tip from a community member reporting a suspicious vehicle on an old logging road off Highway 43 North, near an abandoned house.

Upon arrival, Deputy Cobi Edwards observed a person fleeing into the woods. The suspicious vehicle was discovered parked directly behind the abandoned home. Deputy Edwards located two males army crawling in the woods in an attempt to evade law enforcement, and the two were detained.

Further investigation revealed that a shed on the property had been rummaged through. Muddy footprints that led from the vehicle to the shed were also located.
