On Tuesday, August 3rd, Kosciusko and Attala emergency services were kept busy with a series of incidents across the area.
Early in the morning, the driver of a motorcycle traveling on the Natchez Trace crashed and walked to the Econolodge on Veterans Memorial Drive where they asked for help. The individual complained of arm pain and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Just after noon, the Kosciusko Fire Department responded to a grass fire behind a home on Weatherly St., which was quickly extinguished. Later in the afternoon, Attala County Firefighters dealt with three separate woods fires.
The first was on Industrial Park Rd. where a pile of storm debris was on fire. Firefighters extinguished the burn and a front end loader was used to cover the pile. On Attala Road 4227/Youth Center Lake Rd., approximately one acre was burned and MS Forestry Commission was asked to dig a fire lane around the blaze. On Attala Road 3221, a trash fire got out of control and burned over an acre of yard and woods. Carmack Volunteers assisted in containing this fire.
Kosciusko Police investigated a possible hit-and-run involving a log truck. Officers searched for the truck, and EMS attended to the other party involved in the incident.

September 5, 2024 at 11:01 AMI too saw the incident with the log truck. Happened right in front of me at the Co-Op. He tore that lady’s vehicle up and then ran up on the curb slinging dirt and away he went. I hope he is caught.
