After the recent hailstorm in Kosciusko, police have gotten complaints about people going door to door offering roof inspections and help with insurance claims.
But the city is reminding the public that contractors and adjusters must be licensed by the state, and anyone soliciting business also needs a local permit.
Homeowners should ask for identification from anyone who comes to their door, verify that they’re licensed, never pay in advance for any work that’s to be done, and don’t be pressured into signing anything.

March 25, 2025 at 9:10 AMWe had 15 different “roofers” to come by our house yesterday. It was very annoying and they started ringing our doorbell starting around 9am until 7pm. I put a “no soliciting” sign on my front door and they didn’t stop. I started asking for permits and several took off. I hope today is better!
