After smashing the daily record for new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, Mississippi saw even higher numbers Thursday. The State Health Department reported 7,079 new infections, almost 500 more than the day before. The statewide spike is reflected in the local COVID case counts. Neshoba County has had 96 new cases, Leake County 49 and Attala County 45.
