The number of new COVID-19 cases in Mississippi dipped below 8,000 in Friday’s State Health Department report. After two straight days above that mark, the new daily total was 7,509. In this part of central Mississippi, the numbers were similar to Thursday with 151 new infections in Neshoba County, 49 in Leake County and 37 in Attala County.
