CTC students learn life skills during Reality Fair

Students at the Kosciusko-Attala Career Tech Center recently participated in a Reality Fair that was presented by the MSU Extension Service representatives Becky Hamilton and Taylor Casey.

The Reality Fair was a unique opportunity for students to experience some of the financial challenges they will face when they start life on their own.

During the the hands-on experience, students were given a career and starting salary then completed a budget sheet requiring them to live within their monthly salary while paying for basics such as housing, utilities, transportation, clothing, and food.

Additional expenditures such as entertainment and travel are factored in as well.

The Reality Fair taught students to balance their wants and needs to live on their own.
