Divine Purpose crowned champion of Boswell Media’s Mississippi Music Showcase

Kosciusko, MS – On Saturday, June 7, 2025, Divine Purpose was announced as the winner of Boswell Media’s Mississippi Music Showcase following a thrilling live performance at The Guitar Academy in downtown Kosciusko.

The competition, hosted by Boswell Media, showcased Mississippi’s finest musical talent, drawing a diverse crowd of music enthusiasts to the heart of Kosciusko.

Divine Purpsoe, a gospel, soul band from Jackson, MS captivated the audience and judges with their performance of “Love Melody.”

“We are thrilled to celebrate Divine Purpsoe as the winner of the Mississippi Music Showcase,” said Melissa Boswell Townsend, General Manager at Boswell Media. “Their talent and passion embody the spirit of Mississippi’s vibrant music scene and history.”

The event featured performances by 10 finalists, hailing from all parts of The Magnolia State, each vying for the top spot and the $1,000 grand prize.

Additionally, The Powell Family, from Philadelphia, MS, was named People’s Choice Award winner and took home a $200 cash prize.

The night opened with a performance by The Whispering Trees, featuring 2023 Mississippi Songwriter of the Year Naomi Raines and her husband Joey Raines.

Judges for the Mississippi Music Showcase were Muscle Shoals Music Historian Johnny Belew, radio personality and singer/songwriter Chris Davis (Yazoo City), and Band Director Courtney Sanders (Olive Branch).

The evening was filled with unforgettable performances, community spirit, and a shared love for music.

The Mississippi Music Showcase was presented by Prairie Farms Dairy and produced by the Holmes Community College Entertainment Studies Program.
