Drug bust in Carthage turns up ecstasy, meth

A Leake County man is behind bars on felony drug charges after a yearlong investigation.

James Antwan Moore of Carthage has been charged with aggravated trafficking of Methamphetamine and trafficking of Ecstasy (MDMA).

Leake County Sheriff’s Deputies along with MBN Agents executed a search warrant at a home located at 937 Pine Hill Circle, Carthage on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.

Agents recovered $60,000 worth of street drugs – approximately 1.5 lbs. of Methamphetamine, 160 dosage units of Ecstasy, and a set of scales.

A warrant was issued for Moore’s arrest. Moore was taken into custody by the 5th Judicial Drug Court in Choctaw County.

Agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics coordinated the investigation with the Leake County Sheriff’s Department. The Carthage Police Department, Philadelphia Police Department and 5th Circuit Drug Court assisted in the investigation.

Leake County Authorities say more arrests are expected in the investigation.
