At 12:45 am Attala Fire responded to a report of a structure fire on Attala Road 2979. As Firefighters approached the scene they noted heavy smoke in the area. Emergency personnel arrived at the location and notified responding units that a storage shed was fully involved and already on the ground. Emergency workers quickly extinguished the flames. No injuries were reported. According to Emergency Management Director Danny Townsend the cause of the fire is undetermined at his time and will be under investigation by the Attala County Fire Department.
At 11:31 pm Kosciusko Police, MedStat EMS along with City Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a hit and run. The caller said it was located on Veterans Memorial Drive in front of KFC. The vehicle that fled the scene was described as a black Toyota Tacoma driven by a black male. The truck was last seen traveling south on Veterans Memorial Drive. No injuries were reported
At 4:20 pm Friendship Volunteers and Attala Fire were dispatched to a residence on Attala Road 3226 for a report of a grass fire. The caller said it has already set a barn on fire and a light pole was on fire.
At 4:46 pm Zama Volunteers and Attala Fire were dispatched to Attala Road 5131 for a brush fire. The caller said they were burning something in a barrel but something must have got out.
At 4:48 pm Sallis Volunteers and Attala Fire were dispatched to Attala Road 4045 for a report of a grass fire. The caller said it was located approximately 3 1/2 miles from highway 12 west.
