Ethel softball wins district championship

The Ethel Tigers are the champions of Region 5-1A.

The Tigers clinched the championship with an 11-2 win over Nanih Waiya Tuesday night.

The team is currently undefeated (7-0) in Region 5-1A play.

This [winning the region] was one of our first goals that we set at the start of the season,” head coach Tyler McKinley told Breezy News. “I feel like we are in a good place right now.”

Winning the division gives the Tigers a first round bye and home field advantage in the MHSAA 1A Fast Pitch State playoffs.

“We have everyone healthy and we should be able to go into the playoffs rested. I think they are ready to go out and compete at a high level.”

Postseason play for the Tigers will begin Monday, April 22.
