The Kosciusko Exchange Club concluded its Operation Send a Smile to Dementia patients today. There are 99 Dementia patients residing in the Attala County & VA Nursing Centers that we provided a baby doll or puppy to on Good Friday. Research has proven Doll Therapy can:

Calm someone who is upset
Provide endless hours of hugs & Smiles
Lull a person to sleep
Create a distraction from a dangerous, harmful or upsetting event
Serve as an attention-getter
Provide a tool for social interaction
Regenerate warm, nurturing feelings of once again caring for a young child
Make it possible for someone, totally dependent upon others, to care for “someone else”

An Easter Egg tree was set up at The Citizens Bank. With the help of our community and Crestview Church, all the eggs (patients) were sponsored. Girl Scout Troop 3277 donated baby blankets for each baby doll and puppy that was distributed.  Today, members of the Exchange Club, Crestview Church, Girl Scout Troop 3277 worked together to distribute the gifts to the patients. The group was welcomed with smiles and glee from the patients for their gifts.
