It’s official. Mississippi is not the fattest state in the country. New population data from the Centers for Disease Control show that 40.1 per cent of adult Mississippians are considered obese. But that ranks us second nationally, behind (or is it ahead of?) West Virginia, where the obesity rate is 41.2 per cent. Arkansas is a close third at 40 per cent even. The CDC says the new report shows that the whole country is getting fatter. In 2013, not a single state had an obesity rate of 35 per cent or higher. Now, Mississippi is one of 23 states at that level.
