One of those Air National Guard tanker planes had to make an emergency landing in Meridian Sunday.  The KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft belonging to the 186th Air Refueling Wing was conducting a routine air refueling mission when the plane’s boom was damaged and couldn’t be retracted for landing.  But it did land safely and the pilots and crew were not hurt.  The incident will be investigated to determine how the boom was damaged.
