The State Health Department has served notice that it plans to revoke the license of a Kosciusko day care center owner for serious violations—including an October 4th incident in which two children were able to leave the Wee Kids building through an unlocked door, winding up in a busy highway. The Health Department’s Greg Flynn says it’s not the first time Wendy Hood has been accused of leaving children without proper supervision at the day care…
“In February of ’24, when our folks went by for the yearly inspection, there were a couple of things noted, children being unattended.”
And Flynn says with it happening again, the department’s Division of Child Care Licensure decided it was time to shut down the day care…
“Because the violations were so serious, again leaving children unattended, it’s just unacceptable. We’re holding them accountable,” he says.
Hood was given ten days to file an appeal of the state’s efforts to revoke her license.
Flynn says you can go to their website (HealthyMS.com) to find out more about any of Mississippi’s licensed day cares…
“Before you choose one, if you’re considering one and you want to check about how their previous inspections have gone and how they’re doing, it is all there right at your fingertips.”
