CARTHAGE, Miss.–A high-speed chase began in Leake County Saturday morning at 1:53 when a deputy was behind a white sedan. The chase began on wy. 35 north of Carthage and speeds quickly reached 112 mph.
The deputy who initially began chasing the vehicle nearly lost sight of the car near Singleton.
Attala County deputies were asked to stand by in case the car came into Attala County County.
The car tirned onto County Line Rd. with speeds between 80 and 100 mph. Deputies used spike strips and were aboe to get the driver to run over a strip with the front driver’s side tire near Hwy. 25.
The chase ended on Hwy. 25 at about 2:15.
It was unclear from police radio communications why the car and driver were fleeing from police.
