French Camp Founders Day postponed

Due to the uncertainties surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak, Historic French Camp’s Founders Day celebration, originally scheduled for this May, has been postponed until May 8 of next year.

Event chairman Bo Kirby said “This was a tough decision we hated to make, but we simply can’t take the chance of exposing our visitors to even a slight risk of the virus.  The good news is that we expect our entire cast of American, British and Choctaw re-enactors, as well as musicians and singers, to be with us next year.  We also expect the Wolf River Pipes and Drums, the Dixie National Wagon Train, car exhibits, food vendors and others to participate.”

“I am especially pleased to announce Walt Grayson has already committed to being our Grand Marshall and speaker for the day.”

French Camp Academy, which sponsors the event, as well as the town of French Camp have also committed to 2021.

Because of the size of this year’s event, a record crowd had been anticipated, including visitors from across Mississippi and neighboring states.  With an additional year to plan, organizers say the 2021 event could be even larger.
