A Holmes Community College assistant basketball coach was killed in a car wreck Sunday afternoon in Madison County.
According to a report from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Brooke Walker, 26, was traveling on Interstate 55 north near mile marker 121 at approximately 4:06 pm when she lost control, collided with an embankment, and overturned.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Holmes Community College social media accounts posted a message Monday morning asking for prayers and support, also announcing that Monday night’s scheduled basketball game at Meridian has been postponed.

A native of Terry, Walker was in her fourth year as an assistant coach for the Holmes CC Women’s Basketball Team. Prior to her time at Holmes, she coached basketball at Humphrey’s Academy.
She played college basketball at Northwest Community College. The Rangers announced via social media that there will be a moment of silence held for Walker prior to tonight’s basketball games.
