Jones, a Leflore County native and Leflore County High School graduate, comes to Holmes from Yazoo County, where he coached football for two seasons.
Prior to Yazoo County, he spent two seasons at Southwest Mississippi Community College as the offensive line coach.
At Southwest, he coached Izavion Miller, who signed with Auburn. Miller was the No. 1 offensive tackle in the nation in 2022 and No. 12 overall player in the country.
His players to sign with four-year schools included: Miller, Auburn; Kendarius Small, East Carolina; Hastings Carruth, USM; Cortney Lyles, Jackson State; Shamar Allen, Jackson State; Mo Miles, Prairie View; Dk Harris, Grambling; Ryan Turner, Alcorn; Markwan Perkins, Miss. Valley; Logan Sampson, West Alabama; Austin McKinley, Miss. College; Jalen Ephrain, Miss. College; and Chase Wood, Nazarene University.
He played football at Northwest Mississippi Community College where he was named First Team MACJC, All-State North Division and was a part of the 2016 State and National Championship Team.
Following his time in Senatobia, Jones played at Southeastern Louisiana University earning Southland Conference team honors. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2018.
Later that year, Jones began his coaching career at his alma mater, Leflore County High School, coaching both the offensive and defensive lines. He then moved on to Mississippi College, where he was a graduate assistant defensive line coach while working toward his master’s degree in athletic administration, which he obtained in 2021.
Jones has three daughters — Aria and Journee Jones and Brooklyn Gary. He is engaged to Jariah Gary.
