Holmes falls to Jones in national semifinals

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs incredible season has come to an end here in the 2023 NJCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Tournament semifinals as they fell to the Jones College Bobcats, 4-0. 

Holmes, who finished the year at 19-3, were named Co-Champions of the MACCC. The Lady Bulldogs won their two pool games in the national tournament, 11-1 over Cape Fear on Sunday and 4-0 over St. Charles on Tuesday. 

Holmes was able to defeat the Bobcats in conference play, 3-2, but were unable to defeat them in the national tournament. 

Jones scored two goals in the first half (28th and 42nd) and two goals in the second half (82nd and 83rd). 

The Lady Bulldogs were credited with seven shots and three on goal but were unable to score in the match.
