Kosciusko Fire Department, Kosciusko Police, and EMS were called to a house fire on Shields Rd. Monday around 4 p.m. When firefighters arrived on scene, the inside of the home was fully engulfed in flames. The homeowner sustained minor injuries from the fire, which started when the homeowner attempted to build a fire in the fireplace.
Attala Central Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in a field on Williamsville Rd. at approximately 3:15 p.m. The fire burned around 4 acres and the cause is undetermined.
At 5:10 p.m., Kosciusko Police were alerted to a crash on Veterans Memorial Drive in front of Hibbett Sports. The two vehicles involved blocked at least one lane of traffic. There were no injuries reported.
