Independence Day Incidents Keep First Responders Busy in Attala

Kosciusko and Attala first responders had a busy Independence Day mostly consisting of fights and fireworks complaints.

A caller on Hillview Dr. complained to Kosciusko Police that their neighbor was shooting fireworks and the fireworks were landing on the roof of the neighbor’s home.

Police were later called to Glendale Apartments regarding a fight in progress in the parking lot.

An apparent fight broke out on Hwy 12 near Horne’s Grocery. The caller reported to deputies that multiple vehicles were blocking a lane of traffic.

Fireworks and an ensuing argument were reported at the corner of Linden Dr. and Love Rd. Kosciusko Police responded.

They should outlaw fireworks in the city limits. People start a day or so before the holiday and continue a day or so after. Some of the fire works are so loud they sound like the old cherry bombs and some like gunshots. My dogs are scared to death and they are very disturbing to older people whohave anxiety issues and problems sleeping. It’s scary when you already have drive by shootings and gunshots going off periodically on streets close to mine.

I made a comment that was perfectly acceptable in content about fireworks and the effect it has on the elderly and pets. The fireworks go on for days and even last night loud fireworks could be heard close to lucas street. I also mentioned the fact that some sound like gunshots and thats scary and fireworks should not be allowed in the city limits. My comments were not approved and i would respectfully like to know why. Nothing i said was rude or offensive.
