If you’ve driven past the Prairie Farms plant in Kosciusko in recent days, you might have seen the newest member of their team – a 12-ft Holstein cow statue sitting in front of the building.
Prairie Farms sent the following release to Breezy News with the story behind the cow, how she arrived in Kosciusko, her name, and more.
Kosciusko Prairie Farms acquired the black and white Holstein in August of 2023. The 12 foot plus cow actually made its way to its new home in Kosciusko by way of Hammond, LA.
Prairie Farms, through acquisitions of several plants in the south, picked up this cow. She was kept under wraps until it made its first Mississippi appearance at the Mississippi State Fair In Jackson in October.
Robert Peacock (sales manager ) in Kosciusko tells the story of feeling like a ROCKSTAR when he hit I-55 and folks started pulling alongside the truck and trailer to get photos.
At its debut at the State fair, Prairie Farms put on a Name The Cow contest. After hundreds of names were submitted, the Cow was named MISS SIPPI.
ON a side note – Don’t worry the smaller Jersey cow (MS DAISY) as she is known (that every senior that has passed through Kosciusko High school the last 15-20 years know all to well) is not going away.
In weeks to come she will be moved across the drive a bit closer to the office.
