Jacksonville, Fla. native De’Andre Johnson has joined Coach Marcus Wood’s staff as an offensive assistant and running backs coach.
Johnson, who attended First Coast High School, had an outstanding senior season completing 215-of-328 for 3,710 and was named Class 8A Player of the Year and Florida’s Mr. Football. He is the state leader in passing touchdowns and yards in the state of Florida. He signed with Florida State before transferring to East Mississippi, where he threw for 2,646 yards and 26 touchdowns and was named MACJC North MVP, Region 23 MVP and a NJCAA All-American.
He also played at Florida Atlantic and Texas Southern.
Johnson went undrafted in the NFL but attended camps with the Cleveland Browns and the Houston Texans. He then played two seasons in the USFL for the New Jersey Generals, where he was a Top 25 both seasons. At New Jersey, he was 127-of-203 for 1,712 yards and six touchdowns and rushed 119 times for 671 yards and six touchdowns.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Florida Atlantic with a minor in Sociology and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Texas Southern.
